Suggested uses

Pour over berries or figs or eat the sauce alone with a dollop of coconut milk whipped cream (page 100).

Bring the coconut milk to a gentle boil in a small pot over medium heat.

Add the dates, boil a few minutes, then turn off the heat and let set for ten minutes to soften the dates.

Pour the coconut milk into a blender and blend for twenty-five seconds so the dates are mostly dissolved in the milk.

Add cocoa powder, avocado, and vanilla, and blend until the sauce is thick and creamy.
